Friday Fuel! Avoiding the Energy Vampires

Happy Friday!

It’s a great day to be alive!

Nothing is more annoying then hanging out with someone who sees everything from a negative perspective or complains endlessly – it’s the worst! You feel me?! It always amazes me how one’s personal vibe can repel people or draw them in. I  have seen it first hand in my personal and professional life – one person with a negative attitude or outlook will bring down the energy and enthusiasm of everyone they come in contact with. I once heard someone refer to these pessimist as “energy vampires” and I think that term is spot on! Negative people can literally drain our energy and suck the positivity out of our life. If we are not careful, these people can pull us into their negative mindset and deter us from our goals and happiness.

You all have heard me say this many times….a negative mind will never give you a positive life. Our attitude is the result of personal choice combined with the people we surround ourselves with. Our happiness and well-being is influenced by the relationships in our life. How are you taking control of our own mindset and finding ways to avoid the “energy vampires” of the world? Who are the five people you spend the most time with and what type of attitude do they have? If you find that you are spending a huge amount of time around the “Debbie Downers” of the world then it’s time for change! Kick these people out of your life as forcefully as you would kick someone out of your home that you didn’t want to be there!

I know, I know – easier said then done! BUT what would your life look (and feel!) like if you didn’t have to deal with the negative energy of these people? How would your energy and outlook on life be impacted? I have learned, particularly from my work life, there are just some people we can’t avoid but what we CAN do is minimize and better manage the time that we are interacting with them. Here is an article from Entrepreneur.com with strategies for dealing with negative people – #7 is my number one way to deal with it!

The Dalai Lama said it best….

“Do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace.”

Chumlee is a perfect example of how positivity is contagious. Coming home to him every day is an instant mood elevator. I hope these pictures do the same for you!
